VIDEO | Andonović: A ceasefire agreement is reached at the table, but wars are raging on the ground

The ceasefire between Israel and Hamas brokered by the Trump administration is collapsing, at a time when he is focused on ending the Ukrainian military conflict.

Israeli tanks entered the Netzarim corridor, a land security zone that divides the Gaza Strip into two parts, from which Israeli forces withdrew in February as part of the first phase of the ceasefire agreement.

The Israeli military said troops on the ground "have launched a ground operation in the central Gaza Strip and in the south with the aim of expanding the security area and creating a partial buffer zone between the north and south of the enclave."

This ground incursion was preceded by fierce rocket attacks on the Gaza Strip over the past two days, where according to the latest reports, 436 Palestinians have been killed so far.

Hamas described the incursion into the Netzarim Corridor as a "new and dangerous violation" of the ceasefire.

The US State Department, however, said that "the proposal to extend the ceasefire in Gaza is still on the table, but not for long."

"We currently have a proposal on the table that would bridge the differences between the two sides, extend the ceasefire, and allow for the release of five live hostages, including American Adan Alexander," a State Department spokesman said, blaming Palestinian militants for the current situation. Namely, the United States is demanding that Hamas release the American hostage, and if he is not released, the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas risks collapsing.

Earlier, Hamas official Taher el-Nono said the group had not closed the door to negotiations, despite continued Israeli bombardment.

Fierce fighting is also taking place on the ground between the Russian and Ukrainian armies. This fighting has intensified following optimistic statements by US President Trump and Russian President Putin, who, after yesterday's talks, agreed to move towards ending the three-year-old Russian-Ukrainian war.

While messages of agreement to a ceasefire were sent to the public, clashes flared up on the ground.

The Russian army carried out its "largest attack in recent years" on Kropyvnytskyi in the Kirovohrad region this morning, wounding eight people, including a child, regional governor Andriy Raykovich said, reports Kyiv Independent.

More than 20 Russian drones were launched into the city overnight, attacking houses and apartment buildings, the same source said.

The Ukrainian Railways Administration said that railway infrastructure was damaged as a result of the attack. Emergency services are currently working at the scene.

Kropyvnytskyi, with a population of about 220.000, is the administrative center of Kirovohrad Oblast in Central Ukraine.

The Ukrainian army responded by carrying out the largest drone attack since the start of the war, firing on the Russian Saratov region.

Russian authorities have announced that the cities of Saratov and Engels, in an area home to a major military base for strategic bombers, have come under the brunt of the largest drone attack since Moscow launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine three years ago.

The Kyiv Post reported that Engels is home to the Tu-160 and Tu-95MS long-range strategic bombers, which are used for attacks in Ukraine.

The military airfield where these bombers are stationed and which was the target of the Ukrainian attacks is located 614 kilometers from the Ukrainian border.

It remains to be seen how the ceasefire agreements reached at the table will be implemented on the ground. Currently, clashes are raging in both Gaza and Ukraine, which have intensified in recent days.
