VIDEO | Andonovic: Both Biden and Trump are presenting the ceasefire agreement as their success! Israel continues its attacks in Gaza

While people in the Gaza Strip celebrated after the ceasefire was announced, there was restraint in Israel. In the United States, both President Biden and his successor Trump are claiming the ceasefire as their success.

In his speech, Biden stressed that the deal was already spelled out precisely in the proposal he presented last May. His diplomatic efforts to reach an agreement, he said, have never waned.

Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform: "This epic ceasefire agreement could only come as a result of our historic victory in November, which signaled to the world that my administration will seek peace and negotiate agreements to ensure the safety of all Americans and our allies."

The United States has struggled for months under Biden to broker a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and has repeatedly come close to a deal. For his part, Trump has threatened that Hamas will bitterly regret it if a deal is not reached by his inauguration next Monday, January 20.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has not yet made an official statement on the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, and has announced that he will only make a statement when all the details are finally clarified. The final details of the agreement are currently being worked out, the Prime Minister's office said.

Israeli government sources specify that the details are essentially a list of Palestinians who should be released in exchange for Israeli hostages.

The Israelis themselves, whose relatives are being held hostage by Hamas terrorists, are currently restrained and are waiting for the hostages who have been held by Hamas for 15 months to be released.

Meanwhile, until the ceasefire agreement comes into effect, Israel continues its military strikes on Hamas positions in Gaza, and according to the latest reports, 38 Palestinians have been killed.
