Today, the Constitutional Court is discussing the disputed articles from the Law on the Use of Languages, in a tense atmosphere and strong police security. The law was adopted in 2017 and entered into force two years later.

The former President Gjorge Ivanov, when passing the controversial law, refused to sign it, explaining that it contradicts the Constitution and violates the unity of Macedonia. In the meantime, the former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Macedonia, Bujar Osmani, proposed the law before the Venice Commission, and after receiving a negative assessment for several key articles of the law, he said that it will be harmonized in our legislation. But right now he is translating the so-called stand guard in front of the Constitutional Court, protesting against the work of the judges.

- It is a manipulation that the Albanian language is abolished in Macedonia, because the Constitutional Court is discussing the disputed articles of the Law on the Use of Languages. Otherwise, the key articles of the Law, those that referred to the bilingualism of the uniforms and the bilingualism in the judicial authorities, were never implemented in practice. The letter signed by the so-called is also disappointing. Albanian intellectuals, who told the Albanian judges to put the national interest above the law and vote against the repeal of the Law. I think that DUI is trying to stay alive in this way, although, after Artan Grubi, who is a high official in the party, was blacklisted by the US State Department, I think it will be almost impossible - says the journalist of Sloboden Pechat. Srdjan Ivanovic.
