Last week, Netflix viewers spent more than 196 million hours watching the series about Jeffrey Dahmer, one of America's most notorious serial killers. The series called "DAHMER Monster: The Story of Jeffrey Dahmer" is the most watched content on the platform globally.

Dahmer plays him in the Netflix series Evan Peters, and the series is written by Ian Brennan и Ryan Murphy, which is famous for American Horror Story.

The story of serial killer Dahmer has already been documented, but Netflix tried to offer viewers a different perspective with its series. Namely, the series is focused on his victims, as well as the inability of the police to catch him over the years.

The series depicts brutal scenes

The series dramatizes at least 10 cases in which Dahmer was almost arrested but eventually acquitted.

"Over the course of more than a decade, convicted murderer Jeffrey Dahmer killed 17 teenagers and young adults. How did he avoid arrest for so long?” reads the description of the Netflix series.

The new hit quickly sparked a backlash among crime fans, with many saying they were "sickened" after learning the depth of the Milwaukee cannibal's crimes.

The series, for example, includes scenes in which Dahmer feeds a woman a human meat sandwich, as well as a depiction of his method of luring his victims, knocking them unconscious and performing gruesome acts on them.

Dahmer was arrested in 1991 and sentenced to 16 life sentences for killing and dismembering 17 men and boys between 1978 and 1991, many of whom he committed necrophilic acts.
