A 55-year-old cyclist died today while driving on the Tetovo-Skopje highway when he hit a van stopped due to a breakdown, the police said.

"At 13.20:55 p.m., it was reported to SVR Tetovo that on the Tetovo-Skopje highway, in the immediate vicinity of the Dobarski overpass, a bicycle driven by N.R. (XNUMX) from Skopje hit a stopped, due to a breakdown, a "Volkswagen Crafter" truck, with Skopje registration marks. At the scene of the accident, the bicyclist died from his injuries, and the Tetovo Ambulance team confirmed his death," said the police statement.

The inspection was carried out by a team from SVR Tetovo and the Public Prosecutor, on whose order the body was handed over for an autopsy.

Despite the fact that according to the law they are not allowed to drive on the highway, drivers constantly warn that on the section between Skopje and Tetovo, cyclists can be observed daily riding on the braking lane, and the traffic police tolerate them.
