Great Britain is sending cruise missiles to Ukraine, with a range of over 500 kilometers
The British Minister of Defense Ben Wallace announced today that Britain is sending long-range cruise missiles to Ukraine to help fight Russian forces.
Wallace told MPs in the House of Commons that the UK is giving away Storm Shadow missiles with a range of more than 500km. He did not say how many will be sent, nor whether they have already arrived in Ukraine.
British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak pledged in February that Britain would be the first to provide Ukraine with the longer-range weapons it has requested from its Western allies.
The missiles will allow Ukraine to hit targets far behind the front line, including Crimea, which is under Russian occupation. British media reported that Ukraine has pledged not to use missiles to attack Russia.
Wallace said the missiles would be used to push back Russian forces on "Ukrainian sovereign territory." He added that British support for Ukraine is "responsible, measured, coordinated and agile".
