The White House rejected North Korea's accusations that joint military exercises in the region were a provocation and said the United States had no hostile intentions toward Pyongyang.

We have made it clear that we have no hostile intentions toward the DPRK (North Korea) and that we seek serious and sustained diplomacy to address the full range of issues of interest to both countries and the region, said a spokesman for the White House National Security Council.

The White House's comments came after North Korea's foreign ministry said exercises by the US and its allies had pushed the situation to an "extreme red line" and threatened to turn the peninsula into a "huge military arsenal and a more critical war zone".
A statement carried by the state news agency KCNA said Pyongyang was not interested in dialogue as long as Washington pursued a hostile policy.

The White House statement reiterated the United States' readiness "to meet with representatives of the DPRK at a time and place convenient for them."

We reject the idea that our joint exercises with partners in the region serve as any kind of provocation. These are routine exercises, fully in accordance with previous practice, the spokesman said.

He added that the United States continues to work closely with allies and partners to ensure peace and stability in the region.

– At the same time, we will continue to work with allies and partners to fully implement UN Security Council resolutions that reflect the will of the international community and limit the DPRK's ability to advance its illicit weapons programs and threaten regional stability , emphasized the American official.
