Polish President Andrzej Duda said Poland is in talks with the United States to include it in the nuclear sharing program, which allows some allied countries to receive American nuclear weapons and be able to use them only if Washington allows them.

"The problem is first of all that we don't have nuclear weapons. There is no indication that Poland could have it in the near future. There is always a potential opportunity to participate in the Nuclear Sharing Program. We talked with the American leaders about whether the USA is thinking about such a possibility. The topic is open", said President Duda in an interview with the Polish weekly "Gazeta Polska".

The Polish president said that Russian threats to use nuclear weapons indicate a mindset that if Russia is not great, the world may cease to exist.

"If Russia starts a nuclear war, those responsible for it will be cursed all over the world," Duda said.

Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, Italy and Turkey are involved in the joint nuclear response program, and nuclear weapons are in their bases, but they can only be used within the framework of NATO's joint defense and with the permission of the United States.
