Tomorrow, a protest march in Skopje because of the polluted air
A protest march for clean air will be held tomorrow, organized by "Green Humane City". The civil associations propose to the Government and the municipalities several measures for immediate action, but also more medium-term measures which, according to them, would have a significant impact on air pollution.
The protest starts at 16:00 in front of the Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning, continues in front of the Parliament and ends in front of the Government of the Republic of Macedonia.
"Every year in Macedonia there are about 3.828 deaths due to exposure to PM2.5 particles, which are among the most harmful to health. This represents 17,7% of the total mortality in the country. Particles are linked to serious health problems, such as lung diseases, heart attacks and lung cancer," the initiative's call states.

"Green Human City" warns that polluted air is the cause of one out of nine deaths in children under one year. "For years, pollution in Skopje and other cities has been a problem for all of us. Immediate implementation of effective measures to improve air quality is necessary," the initiative says.
