Seventy-eight-year-old woman V.N. from the village of Marino in Skopje, died of injuries yesterday after being hit by a passenger vehicle "Honda Civic" with Skopje license plates that left the scene of the accident. After the vehicle was found, the owners made a false statement to the police to avoid blame.

As the Ministry of the Interior announced today, at 17.25:500 p.m. yesterday, it was reported to SVR Skopje that the woman was hit at the intersection of "401" and "XNUMX" streets in the village of Marino and that the driver escaped with the vehicle.

V.N. died of her injuries on the spot. Death was confirmed by a doctor from the Emergency Medical Service, and according to the instructions of the public prosecutor, the body of the deceased was handed over for an autopsy.

An inspection was carried out by the public prosecutor and an inspection team from SVR Skopje, and a series of operational measures were taken to find the driver and the vehicle.

As the Ministry of the Interior informs, video recordings from surrounding facilities were reviewed and a witness was interviewed, as well as the owners of the vehicle, who stated in an official interview that they had given the vehicle to an unknown person without a sales contract.

- But after reviewing the recordings from "Safe City", it was established that it was a false statement by the owner of the vehicle, J.S. from Skopje, who was immediately detained at Gazi Baba Police Station and admitted that her husband I.S. (46) was driving the vehicle. After documenting the case, an appropriate report will be filed, the Ministry of Internal Affairs announced.
