There is still no abnormality from the oncology clinic at the "8 Septemvri" GOB
For patients with cancer, the reception room, that is, the outpatient clinic at GOB "8 Septemvri" is not yet open, the main goal of which is to reduce the frequency of patients at the Oncology Clinic. The Health Fund told "Free Press" that a week ago a meeting was held between the management of FZOM and the director of GOB "8 Septemvri", doctor Sinisha Stojanoski.
The director of PHI GOB "September 8" informed that preparations have already been started by the hospital for adaptation of the room for reception of patients with cancer. A detailed financial analysis is being prepared for this purpose, in order for the hospital to submit a request for additional financial resources to the Fund. After receiving the request, it will be considered at a session of the Management Board of the Fund and the request will be acted upon, according to the Fund.
The dispersion of oncology services for patients is necessary because the Oncology Clinic in the "Mother Teresa" clinic complex faces a large number of oncology patients and is understaffed. What the new management of the Clinic, director Igor Stojkovski, did was to establish a two-shift operation of the day hospital in order to reduce crowds.
Cancer patients in the country do not only face spatial problems, but the medical staff is also insufficient. Only 46 specialist oncologists operate in the entire territory, the number of malignant diseases is galloping, and there is a lack of nurses. At the Oncology Clinic, we asked whether nurses had been hired for new jobs, but we did not receive an answer.
At a government session about 3 weeks ago, the decision was passed in the GOB "September 8" that outpatient consultative examinations can be performed. Two oncologists have been employed in this hospital and, according to the announcements of the Minister of Health Dr. Arben Taravari, it is possible to start receiving lighter oncology therapy. But for that you need a plan and a budget, which have not been realized so far. The future of this clinic depends on the conditional budget that the Fund will approve for the GOB "September 8", because the therapy should be bought with that money.
- We have decentralization in healthcare. Of course, in the meantime, the Oncology Clinic will need to have an agreement with the GOB "September 8" for this to somehow be under the control of the Oncology Clinic, I'm talking about oncology patients. I can say that for at least one month, patients will start receiving certain therapy on "September 8", which will partially relieve the Oncology Clinic - Taravari said three weeks ago.
The accelerator in the hospital is not working either, and Taravari believes that it will not work for at least the next six months. The minister announced that the next period will focus on hospitals in Bitola and Tetovo to see what can be done there in terms of decentralization. The biggest problem for all oncology patients is that their number is growing, the number of doctors is the same, and the therapies are expensive.
