A corporation for supervision and a legal consultant for Corridor 8 will be selected soon

The selection of a supervisor and a legal consultant who will lead the negotiations together with the already established Committee by the Government for the project for construction of Corridor 8, which is important for the whole region, is in the final phase - said today the director of the Public Enterprise for State Roads , Ejup Rustemi after the inspection of the construction activities on section 5 of the highway Kicevo - Ohrid, together with the Minister of Transport and Communications Blagoj Bochvarski.

Corridor 8, he pointed out, is important for the Republic of Northern Macedonia and that is why we entrusted its construction and modernization to the consortium Bechtel and Enka. In that regard, the Parliament adopted the Law on Determining Public Interest and Nominating a Strategic Partner for Implementation of the Project for Construction of Infrastructure Corridor 8, which includes the section Tetovo-Gostivar-Bukojcani, the highway Trebenishta-Struga-Kafasan, as well as Corridor 10 D, ie a section of the highway Prilep-Bitola.

- The Committee for negotiations for concluding a construction contract has already been established, and after intensive preparation of the entire tender documentation, we published an announcement for selection of a supervisor and legal consultant who will lead the negotiations together with the already established Committee and this procedure is in its final stage. This step enables the start of preparatory work for the concrete realization of the project for Corridor 8, said Rustemi.

The completion of Corridor 8, according to Minister Bovcarski, is of strategic interest for the country and the region.

- It is of strategic interest for the country to complete Corridor 8 at the level of a modern and safe highway, for which we are obliged before our European partners. This Corridor is important not only for us, but also for the whole region in terms of economic development, transit and connection with the ports of Bulgaria and Albania, said Bochvarski after inspecting the construction activities of the highway section near the Ohrid village Gorenci.
