Artists and volunteers participate in the environmental project "We Breathe Together"

The four-day art workshop for creating "Lendart" is in progress along the highway Skopje - Veles, near the railway station "Rajko Žinzifov", in the village of Lavčani. The event lasts from August 5 to 8 and is part of the project "We breathe together" by the artist Simona Mancheva.

"Lendart" is a movement that arose in the 60s and 70s through the creation of works of art with natural materials in an open space. The goal of the project is to rethink the ways in which we approach nature, raise awareness about ecology and active community action in solving problems at the micro level. In the participatory project, artists and volunteers from Skopje, Veles, Negotino and Kavadarci create installations with natural materials and recycling waste paper.

Artists Simona Mancheva, Ana Trajkovska, Risto Josifovski – Rombo, Dorotej Neshovski, Elena Dimova Pantelić and Slavica Kapidanova, as well as volunteers Una Stosic, Viktorija Chocheva, Verica Chocheva and Darko Stojanov, are participating.

The event also features an interactive permaculture workshop, making seed bombs. The developer is Elena Danova, an educator with experience in the field of permaculture and educational gardening.

The "Together we breathe" project consists of three stages. The first includes an exchange of experiences, where artists and ecologists make installations from natural materials. Although it is the age of digital media and communication, many trees are still cut down for the production of paper.

For that reason, the second phase includes workshops for paper recycling, led by Ana Trajkovska and Dragancho Tanevski, and in cooperation with JP "Komunalec" and the horticulture department of the municipality of Kavadarci.

The third stage is in cooperation with Macedonian forests - "Bor" - Kavadarci and the mountaineering club ZPK "Zelen breg" - Kavadarci. Its goal is to raise awareness about climate change, which is further exacerbated by forest fires.

The event was realized in cooperation with KSP "Centar-Jadro", and is part of the project "Places of generosity - transformative stations", financed by the Open Society Foundation - Macedonia. (EP)
