Ukraine's ombudsman has accused Russia of blocking any exchange of prisoners of war between the two countries.

"There was no exchange of prisoners of war, because Russia does not want that," said Dmytro Lubinets in Telegram.

Ukrainian media remind that the last exchange between the two countries was at the end of October.

"Every initiative and effort on the part of Ukraine is faced with a lack of desire on the part of Russia to return its citizens," Lubinets said.

He accused Russia of trying to sow anxiety among the families of Ukrainian prisoners of war, saying it was Kiev that was doing nothing about the prisoner exchange.

The ombudsman said in August that Ukraine had managed to return nearly 2.600 prisoners of war in about 50 organized exchanges with Moscow since the Russian invasion began in February 2022.
