Half of the weapons promised to Kiev by the West are being delivered late, the Ukrainian Defense Minister said today. Rustem Umerov.

At a forum held in Kyiv to mark the second anniversary of the Russian invasion, Umerov said that because of these delays, Ukraine is "losing people and losing territory."

According to him, 50 percent of the promised weapons were not delivered on time.

At the same time, the Ukrainian Prime Minister Denis Šmigal expressed confidence today that the United States "will not hand over" Kiev to Russia and that it will eventually approve aid to Ukraine.

A new $60 billion aid package has been blocked in the US Congress by political divisions between Republicans and Democrats, and aid from the European Union, which had also been delayed, was confirmed in February.

In recent days, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy has repeatedly appealed to his Western allies to quickly deliver military aid to Kiev.

He called on Western countries to provide Ukraine with ammunition, more air defense systems and fighter jets.
