Ukrainian refugee wants to represent Sweden at Eurovision
The seventeen year old Maria Sur from Ukraine is among the competitors for the representation of Sweden at "Eurovision" next year 2023, in Liverpool, the television announced "SVT".

"I came to Sweden eight months ago with my mother because of the war in my country. My song will tell you my story. The song is titled "Never give up", Maria told the Swedish media.

Just before the Russian invasion in February, she participated in the "Voice of Ukraine" competition and emphasized that she is grateful to have participated in the Swedish "Melodifestivalen". The first half of the contestants has been announced, and the second half of the list should be announced by the end of the week.

With six winners, Sweden is one of the most successful countries at the Eurovision Song Contest. Maria Sur will sing in the second preliminary round in Linköping on February 11.

The Ukrainian Kalush Orchestra won the Eurovision Song Contest in Turin, Italy. The English city of Liverpool will host the event in 2023, as security conditions in Ukraine are not satisfactory.
