Ukrainian authorities announced today that they still control about 60 percent of the border town of Vovchansk in the northeastern Kharkiv region, which has been under heavy Russian offensive in recent weeks.

"The enemy is still trying to push the Ukrainian armed forces out of the city. Ukrainian forces control about 60 percent of the city's territory, but this does not mean that the attacks have stopped," said the governor of the Kharkiv region, Roman Semenukha.

On May 10, Russia launched an offensive in the Kharkiv area, and the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that the Russian army had captured several settlements in the area.
