According to reports of the Russian authorities and media, Ukraine used drones last night to attack energy facilities in the Smolensk region, 400 kilometers west of Moscow, DPA reported.

- Our region was once again the target of an attack by Ukrainian drones, the governor of Smolensk, Vasiliy Anokhin, said early this morning, reported by the Russian media.

Mayor Anokhin clarified that Russian air defense was used, adding that the attack on energy facilities caused fires.

This information could not initially be verified by an independent source.

DPA reports that a drone attack was also registered in the western Russian city of Lipetsk. The drone crashed in the industrial area and there were no victims in the incident, Russian media reports, citing the governor of the region.

Russia, which has been waging war against its neighbor Ukraine for over two years, is increasingly under attack from Ukrainian drones, especially in the border areas. However, the damages and the number of victims are disproportionately lower compared to the massacre in Ukraine, the German agency clarifies.
