Ukraine: In the first wave we will receive between 120 and 140 Western tanks
Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba, said today that Kyiv will soon, "in the first wave" receive between 120 and 140 Western tanks from a coalition of 12 countries.
"We are working in two directions: we want to include new countries in the coalition that supplies us with tanks, and at the same time we are asking for more tanks from the countries that have already helped us," Kuleba said at an online conference.
Kyiv this month secured help from the West in the form of battle tanks to help it in a planned counter-offensive in the south and east of the country.
The US has asked Kyiv to delay such plans until Western military aid arrives in Ukraine.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba two weeks ago he called all the countries that have Leopard 2 tanks to "secure as many of them as possible" to help Ukraine repel a Russian invasion.
"So, the tank coalition was formed. All those who doubted that it could ever happen have now seen: Nothing is impossible for Ukraine and its partners. I call on all new partners who have Leopard 2 tanks in service to join the coalition and provide as many of them as possible," he wrote on Twitter.
