Ukraine is ready to limit food exports to the European Union in order to alleviate the concerns of Polish farmers, said Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine, Taras Kachka.

He indicated that Kiev can use tools that will stabilize the sharp increase in exports to the EU.

- We will accept that exports will not grow as quickly and suddenly as in previous years, Kachka said, adding that the predictability of the market is currently more important for Ukrainian producers than "aggressive expansion".

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said yesterday that his government is considering temporarily closing the border to trade with Ukraine if Warsaw does not reach an agreement with Kiev that would limit food imports.

-Poland is paying too high a price for the decision to start free trade with Ukraine, Tusk emphasized.
