UEFA: Russia will not be in the draw for Euro 2024 qualifiers
The UEFA Executive Committee met today in Hvar, Croatia and approved the procedure for the upcoming one draw for the 2024 European Championship qualifiers which will take place on October 9 this year at noon in Frankfurt.
Germany, as the host organizer automatically qualifies for the continental gathering and therefore does not participate in the qualification draw.
All Russian teams are currently suspended following the UEFA Executive Committee's decision of 28 February 2022, which was further upheld by the Court of Arbitration for Sport on 15 July 2022. Therefore Russia will not be included in the draw for the qualifiers for the European Championship 2024.
53 national associations participate in the qualifying draw, which will distribute the national teams into 10 groups, seven groups of five teams and three groups of six teams.
The ten winners from the groups and the ten second-placed selections will be at the European Championship. The remaining three places will be determined through a play-off to be played in March 2024. The 53 participating teams are arranged according to the overall UEFA Nations League ranking for 2022/23 and divided into seven caps.
