A child killer and rapist died of cancer
The British Ministry of Justice said the notorious child killer Russell Bishop died of cancer.
The 55-year-old died at the hospital after being rushed to it from Frankland Prison in Durham County.
He was found guilty of killing two nine-year-old girls, Nicole Fellows and Karen Hadaway, in a park in Brighton in 1986.
He ended up in prison after being tried for the second time in 2018 with new evidence gathered using more precise DNA technology.
Bishop, then 20, sexually abused the girls and then strangled them in Wild Park in Brighton.
Their mothers told him, after 32 years of fighting for justice, that he was an "evil monster", writes Sky News.
Although Bishop was acquitted in the first trial for the murder of a girl, he was sentenced to life in prison for three years for kidnapping, sexually assaulting and attempting to kill a seven-year-old girl in South Downs Park.
