Police officers arrested for leaking official secrets

On 24.01.2025, police officers from the Department of Internal Control, Criminal Investigations and Professional Standards, the Criminal Police Department and the SVR Bitola conducted a search of the home and auxiliary premises of police officer B.B. in Bitola, due to grounds for suspicion of committing the crime of "disclosing official secrets", under Article 360 ​​of the Criminal Code.

As the Ministry of Interior announced, during the search, a pistol, a revolver, two pistol frames, 321 pieces of various ammunition, over 20.000 euros and official documentation, i.e. operational reports containing classified information, including on border operations, analyses of migrant routes, etc., were found.

The OVKKIPS, in coordination with the OKP-SEKK and the SVR Bitola, filed a criminal complaint under Article 396, paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code with the Public Prosecutor's Office - Bitola against B.B. following an expedited procedure and a competent judge imposed a detention measure of 30 days.

In relation to the criminal offense under Article 360 ​​of the Criminal Code, an inspection was carried out in an official premises of the Regional Center for Border Affairs South located within the area of ​​the SVR Bitola, during which a desktop computer was seized for further proceedings.

After inspecting the office premises and the computer in question, a conversation was held with police officer L.K., who explained in the official conversation that he had used his official code in the passenger and vehicle control system to perform checks for the Minister of Interior, Pance Toshkovski. A public prosecutor from the Public Prosecutor's Office for the Criminal Investigation Department was notified, on whose instructions police officer L.K. was deprived of his liberty and detained in the Bitola Police Station.
Also on 25.01.2025, police officers from the OVKKIPS in coordination with the OKP-SEKK and the SVR Bitola, following an order issued by the Basic Court - Bitola, conducted a search of the home of L.K.. During the search, two portable devices were found and seized - USB and a mobile phone.
In coordination with the Public Prosecutor's Office-Gokk, additional measures and activities are being undertaken to clarify the criminal-legal event.
