Lithuanian governor arrested in Russia, sailed in Russian waters

Russian border police have arrested the governor of Lithuania's Klaipeda district, Bronius Markauskas, and two others in the Kura Bay for violating the Russian border, a Lithuanian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman said today.  

"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has received information that three Lithuanian citizens are on the Russian side of the border. "Our consular service is investigating the situation," she told Lithuanian radio LRT.  

Lithuanian border guards confirmed that the border had been breached and that three people had been in a boat in the Gulf of Kursk. Markauskas is known for his love of fishing, points out TAS.
