Bosnians and Herzegovinians today gained membership in the United Nations 30 years ago. Referring to this date, the BiH Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bisera Turkovic, said that membership signifies true international legitimacy, recognition and the right to defend, build and live in one's own sovereign and independent state.

"The United Nations has recognized our renewed independence, which has made us all proud and happy. "But in the years that followed, they saw for too long aggression and genocide, the suffering of the innocent, forcing us, under a shameful embargo, to defend not only our lives, but peace, democracy and the values of civilization from more vampiric fascism in this part of Europe." she wrote on her official Facebook profile Bisera Turkovic.

She adds that Bosnia and Herzegovina achieved a great, historic victory 30 years ago and continues to successfully defend the statehood that many more nations have not yet gained.

"The millennial tradition and roots of this country, the foundation and source of this invincible force of the man from Bosnia and Herzegovina, who overcomes the huge and difficult challenges with his hands tied. "Even 30 years after the favorite flag was flown on the East River, before this and new, even better generations, there are still many challenges for the progress and strengthening of the country," the BiH Foreign Minister wrote.

At the time, the United Nations and the European Union, according to Turkovic, were facing another difficult generational test, given Russia's aggression against Ukraine.

Turkovic concludes that one should not doubt the victory of truth and justice and wonders whether the world and Europe need more execution sites, mass graves and massacres before realizing that only unity, co-operation, balanced development and the completion of the European family can guarantee a peaceful and secure future in this part of the world.
