The day has come to share a map of socially responsible catering establishments across Macedonia that have decided to upgrade their services and elevate their guests by offering to read daily newspapers. The map of catering establishments is available below.
Recently on our official Instagram profile @slobodenpecat, completely spontaneously and authentically – at your request, and to our pleasure – we started an initiative for greater visibility of traditional media by offering newspaper reading in Macedonian catering establishments.

How the initiative started
A random one photography from a reader with a newspaper, followed by a sincere reply – that’s how this pure, authentic initiative in our editorial team actually began! Our reader and Instagram follower shared a photo of a man reading a newspaper in a Skopje bar with us, and we shared it on our official profile, just like any other such random photo of a reader with a newspaper. Regarding this particular photo, we received a message from a reader saying “It would be great if SP. and general reading options were available in Macedonian bars, so that instead of 'staring' at the phone, people would read while waiting for service.".
I we shared that message as it is, and we asked our readers and followers: Do they want to read verified information from authors with a name and surname, from a proven editorial team with famous names in the imprint and address, without the distractions of advertisements; but are there any places – ready to elevate their guests and improve their services by offering a newspaper?
And so, the goal of encouraging people to go out alone more often, to put down their phones while waiting for service, and to get information from verified sources, became a viral Instagram story!
How did you react?
Our mailbox is exploding from messages from readers: locals, who want to see newspapers in catering establishments, but also a large number of expatriates who shared that in European countries, such a question does not arise – why are newspapers already available in the establishments there, and people still read newspapers despite all the digitalization. We received photos from Macedonians all over the world and Europe, the mailbox was overflowing with photos of people with newspapers in establishments across Austria, Serbia, Croatia, Italy, England, Germany, Switzerland, the USA, Australia…
But we also received messages from our local businesses, socially responsible, ready for new things in their offerings.
And so what happened was something we didn't expect to happen, that is, not with such great interest!
Just a few days after the announcement of the initiative, Sloboden Pechat began to be read regularly in catering establishments throughout Skopje, Strumica and Shtip.
Currently, the list of interested local businesses is growing, because every day we have new applications interested in the initiative.
Thanks to our loyal community, who once again showed that where there is pure love and purpose, there is success!
