Three countries did not reward their Olympians financially for the medals they won

The spectacular ceremony marked the end of the 33rd Summer Olympic Games in Paris, and 84 countries won at least one medal out of 206 participants in the Games.

In France, 1044 medals were awarded, and the most successful nation was the USA with 126 medals (40 gold, 44 bronze and 42 silver). While some countries provided large prize money for medal-winning athletes, most notably Hong Kong, which awarded members of the fencing team 710.000 euros each for gold medals, according to Forbes, some of the rich countries did not provide any prize money for their athletes.

We are talking about Great Britain, Sweden and Norway.

Great Britain won 65 medals at the Games. The British climbed the brightest podium 14 times, and in addition won 22 silver and 29 bronze medals.

They are the third country in the number of medals won, right behind the USA and China, but in terms of success they are in the seventh position. The same goes for the 11 Swedes (four gold, four silver, three bronze) and the eight Norwegians (four gold, one silver, three bronze).

U.S. athletes have won the most medals at the Olympics

The government of Serbia will allocate 4,7 million euros for its Olympians who won medals. Athletes from the neighborhood won three golds, one silver and one bronze and are the most successful country in the region. Croatia, on the other hand, has two golds, two silvers and two bronzes on its account. The Olympians from Serbia were awarded 200.000 euros each for a gold medal.

The Croatians awarded 41.000 euros for gold, 26.000 euros for silver and 18.500 euros for bronze. The Slovenians won two gold and one silver medals, and Kosovo also won two medals (silver and bronze). The first historical medals, two silver, were also won by Albania.
