The Committee for Immunization of RS Macedonia announced new recommendations for all citizens in the country older than 60 years, for all health professionals, regardless of age and for all immunocompromised patients to receive a third dose of vaccine. The recommendation applies to all citizens of these three categories, regardless of whether or not they have suffered covid-19 in the past.

The Minister of Health Venko Filipce pointed out that the third dose of vaccine for now is recommended to be exclusively from the manufacturer "Pfizer".

- It is recommended that the citizens receive the third dose at least six months after the second dose. When six months have elapsed, they will receive an SMS message to receive a third dose through the "My appointment" system. "Any vaccine they have received before can be vaccinated with a third dose," Filipce said.

Citizens who have been vaccinated abroad should report their physical presence at one of the vaccination points that they have received the vaccine in order to be admitted to the system.

For the first time in the country, vaccines from the manufacturer "Johnson & Johnson" will be given soon. It is a donation from Denmark of 250 thousand vaccines with a shelf life until 2023.

A total of 1.482.287 doses of vaccines have been given in the country so far, and 703.878 citizens have been revaccinated. Those interested can be vaccinated at the existing vaccination points without an appointment. Children aged 12 to 18 are vaccinated with parental consent. Vaccines are safe and effective and are the only way to beat the pandemic. Only complete vaccination prevents a severe form of the disease and reduces the chance of disease and death, say the Ministry of Health.
