Serena's coach impressed by the new generation of tennis players
The coach of the American tennis player, Patrick Muratoglu believes that men's tennis has evolved and has a future after the retirement of the big three Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic.
– Tennis has evolved in the last ten years. If you look at the prototype of the best tennis players, they are all the same. Everyone is tall and thin, Tsitsipas, Medvedev and Zverev are like that. But then came Alcaraz who is shorter and more muscular and now dominates tennis. That's why I'm excited. The prototype of the new tennis player is: strong serve and constant return. All of them defend well and have excellent movements, but if you play a little slower, they will immediately attack - Muratoglu believes.
Muratoglu says that the players in the past, apart from the big three, had a lot of qualities, but also visible weaknesses in the game.
- Now the tennis players are complete. Players used to have one or two amazing shots, but also quite a few weaknesses in the game. Now there is practically no weakness, if you look at Zverev and Medvedev, normally Novak and Rafa, you won't see a single flaw in their game, none - explains Muratoglu, who now works with Simona Halep.
