The Ministry of Labor and Social Policy announced that a meeting was held this afternoon between the Minister Jovanka Trenchevska and the President of the Federation of Trade Unions of Macedonia, Darko Dimovski which discussed raising the minimum wage.

The Minister, as stated in the statement, stressed that the commitment of the Government is to increase the minimum wage to 18.000 denars as soon as possible this year and that the social dialogue with all stakeholders continues in order to find the most sustainable solution for all open questions.

- The increase of the minimum wage will continue throughout the entire term and will amount to 20.000 denars by the end. As a Government and as a Ministry, we are constantly working to improve the working status. We appreciate the labor of workers, especially in conditions of global economic and health crisis, and that is why, perceiving the economic situation of the citizens, the increase of the minimum wage is more than necessary. That is why there must be such an increase, especially if it is known that they cause a spiral increase in all salaries in both the private and public sector, says Trencevska.

The right to recourse for annual leave for the public sector was also discussed at the meeting, with Trencevska pointing out that the Government is open and ready for a dialogue through which the most appropriate solution will be reached.

The Minister informed that today's meeting that was to be held in the Government with the representatives of SSM was postponed due to the absence of government officials, who are visiting Sofia where the intergovernmental session with the Bulgarian Government will be held tomorrow.

The Federation of Trade Unions of Macedonia (SSM), whose leadership was to meet with government officials today to discuss the increase in the minimum wage, announced after the meeting that on Friday they will convene the Presidency and the Council of the union to activate the strikers. boards and setting a date for strike preparations.
