
Trump 'likely' to meet Putin by the end of the month
US President Donald Trump says he will "probably" meet with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin before the end of the month, reports "Bloomberg".

Trump made the statement as he left a press conference today, when asked about the chances of a meeting with Putin happening by the end of the month. "Probably," said the US president, who did not answer whether he had an exact date in mind for the meeting with Putin.
"There are 11 days left until the end of February, counting today," Trump said.
The two presidents spoke for 90 minutes on the phone last week, when the discussion focused on warming relations between the United States and Russia, as Trump rushes to end the war in Ukraine.
A meeting between Russian and American officials took place today in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – the first face-to-face meeting between officials from the two countries since the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine nearly three years ago.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Putin's foreign affairs adviser Yuri Ushakov arrived in the Saudi capital on Wednesday. Ushakov said the talks would be bilateral and would not include Ukrainian representatives.
According to State Department spokeswoman Tammy Bruce, the US delegation includes Secretary of State Marco Rubio, National Security Advisor Mike Walz, and Special Envoy Steve Witkoff.
During talks in Saudi Arabia, which lasted more than four hours, the United States (US) and Russia reached an agreement in four areas, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said.
One of the four principles agreed upon by US and Russian officials is to form a high-level team to help negotiate and work towards an end to the conflict in Ukraine in a way that is sustainable and acceptable to all parties involved, including Ukraine and Europe.
Representatives of the United States and Russia also agreed to restore diplomatic missions in Washington and Moscow because, as stated, the normal functioning of diplomatic capacities is necessary.
