Trump claims he's innocent and that "radical Democrats want to destroy him"
Manhattan Grand Jury indicted Donald Trump after the investigation into a secret payment to the porn star Stormy Daniels, making the first ex president of the United States who faced criminal charges.
Details of the charges he will face have not yet been released. A grand jury has accused Trump of paying $130.000 to porn actress Stormy Daniels, who claims she had an affair with Trump while he was married to his now-wife Melania.
Trump released a statement immediately after the indictment decision against him.
"This is political persecution and interference in elections that has never happened before." From the moment I stepped off the escalator at Trump Tower, and even before I was sworn in as your president, radical left-wing Democrats – the enemies of the hard-working men and women of this country – launched a witch hunt to destroy me and my movement.” Trump wrote.
“You remember it, as I do: Russia, Russia, Russia; Mueller Fraud; Ukraine, Ukraine, Ukraine; Impeachment Fraud 1; Impeachment Fraud 2; illegal and unconstitutional invasion of Mar-a-Lago; and now this," says Trump.
It says that "Democrats lied, cheated and stole in their obsession to try to 'get Trump,'" but now they've done the unthinkable: "They accused a completely innocent person of an act of blatant election interference."
"Never before in the history of our nation has this been done. Democrats have cheated countless times over the decades, including spying on my campaign, but using our justice system as a weapon to punish a political opponent who happens to be the President of the United States and the leading Republican presidential candidate has never happened before. Never," Trump writes.
"Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, who was personally selected and financed by George Shorosch, is a disgrace. Instead of stopping the unprecedented crime wave sweeping New York, he's doing Biden's dirty work, ignoring the murders, robberies and assaults he should be focusing on. This is how Bragg uses his time," Trump wrote.
