Five people died in the collapse of a building under construction in an industrial zone near Casablanca, the economic capital of Morocco, authorities announced today a new death toll.

After the accident that happened on Thursday, local media reported that two people died and five were injured.

"The tragedy cost the lives of five workers," the union said in a statement.

It added that the workers were working on the construction of "four additional floors of a factory" and that the conditions in which they were working were not safe.

The authorities announced that an investigation has been opened to determine the causes of the collapse.
