Tragedy in Kumanovo: They started an infusion and within a few seconds he had a reaction, and within an hour he died – it will be investigated whether an allergy to analgin is the cause of Vedat Ademi's death

The thirty-two-year-old Vedat Ademi died in the hospital in Kumanovo, just an hour after an intravenous line was placed to administer a medicine containing analgin, the hospital director, Dr. Stefan Trajanovski. There was information in his medical history that while being treated in Germany, he had a reaction to the drug analgin, but there was no signature and stamp from the doctor next to that information. It is not certain whether anaphylactic shock is the cause of death and this will be determined by an autopsy that will be conducted at the Institute of Forensic Medicine. The director says that he has notified both the court and the prosecution but that he does not want to prejudge the causes without a forensic medical report. However, he added that if a mistake is determined, he will not amnesty anyone.

-The patient came in the evening around 7 o'clock, with stomach complaints and was prescribed therapy at the day hospital due to acute inflammation of the gallbladder. The next day, he had another appointment scheduled at 7 o'clock in the morning to receive therapy. He came at 11 o'clock when the therapy was started. A few seconds after the intravenous line was placed, he began to complain of chest pain. The nurse immediately tightened the intravenous line, the nurse came and turned off the therapy. The doctors on duty and the anesthesiologist were informed that breathing and heart function had stopped. Resuscitation was attempted without results and he died in less than an hour, Dr. Trajanovski told "Sloboden Pechat".

Vedat Ademi's father (Amet Ademi) told TV 21 that his son died due to an allergic reaction to the therapy he was administered. When asked by Sloboden Pechat whether the therapy the patient received the evening he first came to the Kumanovo hospital and the next day at 11 am was the same, Director Trajanovski was not sure.

The event is recorded in the bulletin of the Ministry of Interior.

"On 17.03.2025 at 11.35 a.m. at the Kumanovo Police Station, it was reported from the Kumanovo General Hospital that V.A. (32) from Kumanovo was brought to the hospital with a deteriorated health condition, after which he was given therapy, but died a short time later. By order of the public prosecutor, the body was handed over for autopsy, and police officers from the Kumanovo Police Station conducted an inspection and interviewed all medical personnel present. The case is being clarified."

Health Minister Arben Taravari has formed a special commission and the State Health and Sanitary Inspectorate will determine whether there were irregularities in the treatment.
