As Minister of the Interior, and above all as a person, I strongly condemn the vandalism on the memorial plaque near Karpalak, placed in honor of the fallen members of our security forces in 2001, wrote the Minister of the Interior Pance Toškovski. In his reaction, he said that this act is a direct attack on our collective memory and on those who gave their lives to preserve the security and integrity of Macedonia.
"I want to emphasize that such actions will not be tolerated, and the Ministry of the Interior will take all necessary measures to sanction the perpetrators of these cowardly acts, all with the aim of protecting our cultural and historical values," Toshkovski added.
Just one day after the defenders, together with government delegations and representatives of the families of those killed near Karpalak, marked the 23rd anniversary of the massacre yesterday, today the memorial plaque placed in their honor was removed. Such acts of vandalism are common after the commemoration of the anniversary of the killed defenders of Prilep during the military conflict in 2001. The police confirmed the event.
