A ton and a half of cocaine seized in Malta was on its way to Slovenia

Malta customs officers seized a record 1,5 tonnes of cocaine, valued at about 300m euros, hidden in a container transporting bananas from Colombia to Slovenia, the Malta Today newspaper reported today.

According to the report, customs officers seized 50 bags of almost 1.500 packages of one kilogram of cocaine on a ship bound for Koper in Slovenia. The case is being investigated by the Malta Police Narcotics Department, the STA reported.

Customs said the seizures were record-breaking in size and value, much larger than the 800kg shipment of cocaine seized at the same port last month.

It is stated that the customs of Malta seized a total of 2019 kilograms of cocaine in 750, 2020 kilograms in 612, and 740 kilograms last year.
