In British Salford, a city that is part of the greater Manchester area, a teenager died as a result of a police chase. Saul Cookson, 15, was riding an electric bike while being followed by police and collided with an ambulance.

Traffic police who were chasing the 15-year-old were forced to stop when they ran into poles. Manchester Police said the collision between the bike and the ambulance happened on Langworthy Road. The Independent Police Service assessed that the behavior of the officers was "with normal procedure", the police said.

“We are independently investigating the circumstances surrounding the serious collision between an e-bike and an ambulance in Salford. The rider of the bicycle, a 15-year-old boy, was taken to hospital where he unfortunately died. Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the boy who died tragically," said their spokesman.

"We were contacted by Manchester Police due to the fact that a police vehicle was following the e-bike shortly before the collision. We sent investigators to the scene of the collision, at the junction of Langworthy Road and Lower Sidley Road, as well. As for the police procedure after the incident, let's start collecting evidence. Our investigation is at a very early stage and we will provide further details when we are able to do so," he added.

A similar incident happened in Cardiff last month. In a van, police followed two teenagers on an e-bike who also died in the crash, and their deaths sparked several hours of unrest in the city.
