The Tetovo Inspectorate has no money for the demolition of illegal constructions, a large number of buildings and sheds are awaiting legalization

The municipality of Tetovo has once again boasted on social networks that it removes illegally placed advertisements and other materials. The action took place on "Boris Kidrich", "IR Lola" streets, as well as in the City Center.

"Liberation of public spaces, removal of illegal advertisements and more." This action, which is a continuation of the previous actions, will continue every day for more order, security and law in our Tetovo", announced the Municipality of Tetovo.

Citizens welcome such actions, but a large part of them believe that they should continue throughout the city, but also remove, that is, demolish the large illegal constructions that usurp it, especially the foot of Shara and the places along the roads that lead to the recreational areas Banjice and Kale, as well as the Popova Shapka ski center.

"Such actions of the municipality are a minimum of what should be implemented on the ground." And we all know how many illegal constructions there are in the city itself, but also on "Shar Planina". Those illegal constructions of Shara can be seen from the city. For them, neither this nor the previous local self-government took anything. The mountain is being made ugly at the expense of a few individuals. Those buildings should have been demolished a long time ago, but nothing is being done, says a resident of Tetovo.

From the Tetovo Municipality Inspectorate, they say that they are aware of the large number of buildings, which started to be built without any documentation. But we cannot take anything for them, because a large part of them are in the process of legalization, they say from there. Of particular concern is the fact that legalization is pending for anything and everything, even for sheds.

"If their request for legalization is rejected, then our teams will go to the field to intervene. But even in that case, we cannot react immediately, because a large part of them will complain to the Second-Degree Commission, and thus the matter will drag on. For every new building that is built, we react, for the rest, we must follow the letter of the law. The problem is that the shacks were also given a number to be legalized, that is not normal, for a shack to have a number for legalization, that can only happen in Macedonia. There are 30 sheds waiting to be legalized, he says Abdulghani Aliji head of the Inspectorate at the Municipality of Tetovo.

He complained that even as a department they have very few funds available for demolishing illegal constructions. For greater practicality of their department, he also announced a change to the Regulations for the work of the inspectorate.

"There is, for example, a rulebook for our work. If we change the rules, we will have the right to take the goods that are sold wildly on the sidewalks. Now, for example, with the existing regulations, we do not have the right to react to someone, if they installed ramps illegally, you bring the inspector and he has no right to demolish ramps according to the law. I will ask the Council of the Municipality of Tetovo to change the rules for illegally installed ramps and stalls, so that we have the right to take action. Another problem is that we as an inspectorate have 5 million denars available for demolition. Now if we demolish two to three buildings, then we will be left without a penny, and somewhere urgent if something needs to be demolished, I would not be able to react. You need 20 million euros to demolish everything in the city, what was illegally started to be built, but you can't demolish even that, because the legalization procedure is waiting to be completed. Now for those buildings that have been built, I am not to blame. Such was the legalization law, which was brought and changed several times and people abused it, said Abdulgani Aliji, head of the Inspectorate at Tetovo Municipality.

From the Inspectorate, they added that in the past few days they intervened to remove several summer terraces in the city center, whose lease term has passed, and they were not removed at all in the past. Restaurants and cafes will have the right to summer terraces if they meet the conditions, but also if they pay regularly and do not usurp places, which are outside the given terrace permit, according to the inspectorate.

In Tetovo, the legalization process has been stalling for a long time, and illegal constructions are springing up like mushrooms. The municipality last month demolished two illegal constructions on Popova Shapka which were in the construction phase, Mayor Biljal Kasami praised and announced that such actions will continue without selectivity.
