Musharraf's body taken to Pakistan

The body of the former Pakistani president Pervez Musharraf today he was transported to Pakistan where he will be buried, local authorities said.

Musharraf (79) died yesterday after a long illness in a hospital in Dubai, in a self-imposed exile that lasted for years.

He will be buried at a military cemetery in the southern Pakistani city of Karachi tomorrow afternoon after a funeral prayer, his family said.

Musharraf was the head of Pakistan at the time of the American intervention in Afghanistan, and many in the country and in the region criticized him and called him an "American henchman", due to his close ties with the administration of the then American president. George Bush Jr.
