The Office for Suppression of Illegal Migration said the Sudanese migrants were on their way to Libya when they ran out of fuel and their car broke down near the town of Kufra, where the bodies were found.
Nine people survived, and two are missing. Among the migrants there were also women and children, but it is not reported how many. The cause of death has also not been announced, and it is assumed that they ran out of food and water.
It is assumed that they headed to Libya, and from there to Europe by boat.
