A sad day for French football: Grand Bordeaux is no longer a professional club
One of the biggest French clubs, Bordeaux, lost the status of a professional club due to financial problems for which it failed to find a solution.
Bordeaux had the status of a professional club since 1937, and now it had to close the training camp where about 70 children were staying.
The management of the club failed to find a solution for the debts that amounted to 40 million euros, and 25 were claims of former football players, coaches and members of the professional staff.
Due to the loss of professional status, the footballers will now be free to find new employment without the club receiving any compensation. In the past, the Bordeaux shirt was worn by many big football names, including the famous Zinedine Zidane.
