Medal table: Chinese overtake Japan, Croatians add another gold
At the end of the day of competition at the Tokyo Olympics, the Chinese overtook Japan and together they are at the top of the most successful nations with 15 gold medals each. The Chinese have a total of 31 medals won, 15 gold, seven silver and nine bronze, while Japan has 15 gold, four silver and six bronze.
In third place is the United States who has won 14 gold medals, but in terms of the number of medals won are convincingly first with 38. The Americans, in addition to 14 gold, have 14 silver and ten bronze medals.
Russia is in fourth place with a total of 28 medals, eight of which are gold, 11 silver and nine bronze.
From the countries in the region, Croatia thanks to the Sinkovic brothers who triumphed in rowing came to the second gold medal, and on top of that they have a bronze medal.
Serbia remained on four medals won, one gold and one silver and two bronze.
Macedonia is also on the list of medal winners thanks to Dejan Georgievski who won the silver medal in taekwondo.
