The lighthouse of Cyril and Methodius should illuminate all the corridors of our life, Metropolitan Timothy pointed out in Rome

Today we heard the words of Jesus that a lamp is not lit to be put under a cover, but is put on a lampstand to give light to everyone in the house. And God did not light the lamp that he gave us through the holy brothers Cyril and Methodius to cover it, but to illuminate our life and be a light for our salvation. Shall we put that lighthouse under cover? Shall we make him useless to us? Shall we not take the lamp that the holy Church gives to each of us as God's blessing, to place it in a personal and high place in our lives, said today the Metropolitan of Debar-Kicevo, Timotej, at the prayer at the tomb of Saint Cyril in the basilica "Saint Clement" in Rome.

As Timothy said, such a new star and such a new beacon for all Slavic peoples are the brothers St. Cyril and Methodius.

These lighthouses, Timothy continued, have been a blessing to our people since many centuries ago. The light of the Saint-Methodist work never went out in the life of the Macedonian people, in the life of our holy monasteries and in our humble temples. This work continued to shine to be the hope and faith for better times and ecclesiastical-national freedom during the long suffering and slavery period.

We respect the work of the holy brothers Cyril and Methodius and recognize their extraordinary importance for the spread of Christian culture and for educational Christianization. Their work is respected with gratitude through the depiction of their holy images in our churches and monasteries, and on the day of their memory, but also on a daily basis, we address them with love and respect, Timotej pointed out.

The lighthouse of St. Cyril and Methodius, that is, service, he pointed out, should also illuminate all the corridors of our life through which we enter and exit.

May the holy brothers Cyril and Methodius be patrons for the progress of our people, for our Slavic education and culture, for our Orthodox Church and for our country. Let them be advocates before God for unity among Slavs and for peace in the whole world, as we ask them in their troparion. Amen, said Timothy.

As reported by the MIA reporter, the prayer, which was led by Metropolitan Timothy and Metropolitan Evropski, Pimen, was attended by President Gordana Siljanovska Davkova, who leads the state-church delegation in Rome as part of the celebration of the Day of All-Slavic educators, the Holy Brothers Cyril and Methodius. The president and the delegation, as well as those present, bowed before the grave of St. Cyril.
