Yun's legal representatives said he decided to attend the court hearing because he had previously been arrested to appear in court and give a statement, Yonhap reported.
Yun's lawyer said the impeached president made the decision to explain that he legitimately declared martial law on December 3.
The South Korean parliament impeached Yun on December 14 for imposing martial law, and he was arrested on Wednesday, Tanjug reports.
