The court confirmed: Liam Payne's death was an accident, not suicide
Three weeks after the tragic death of Liam Payne, authorities in Argentina confirmed that it was an accidental death. The former One Direction star died of multiple injuries after falling from the third-floor balcony of his Buenos Aires hotel room on October 16.
The autopsy revealed no signs of self-harm, however, three people have been charged for allegedly supplying the singer with intoxicating substances and enabling him to use drugs. The authorities do not allow the unnamed persons to leave the country. Despite the charges, none of the three have yet been arrested.
As "El Mundo" writes, a reports "News 18", the national penal-correctional prosecutor's office stated:
"In the context of the investigation into the death of British musician Liam James Payne, which occurred on October 16 when he fell from a balcony in a hotel in the neighborhood of Palermo. Buenos Aires, for which three people have been charged with crimes. Toxicology tests showed that the former One Direction member had consumed alcohol, cocaine and anti-depressants at least 72 hours before his death. The reports also confirmed that Payne did not take any protective measures during the fall, suggesting that he may have been unconscious or semi-conscious during the fall."
This led investigators to conclude that his fall was not intentional and was not a suicide, as he was unaware of the actions due to his condition.
The portal further reported that one of the accused persons was with Liam Payne during his stay in Buenos Aires. Another was an employee of the hotel, and the third is described as a drug dealer.
According to earlier reports, journalist Paula Varela claimed that police had found footage of Liam Payne falling from a hotel balcony. However, she noted that authorities have decided not to release the footage to the public.
