This decision followed a proposal by Public Prosecutor Trajche Pelivanov, who stressed that there was a danger of escape. Defendant Nebojsa Stajkovic, on the other hand, was placed under house arrest.

The Criminal Court - Skopje, ordered a 30-day detention measure for Sasho Mijalkov, accused in the "Treasury" case. This decision followed a proposal by Public Prosecutor Trajche Pelivanov, who stressed that there was a danger of escape. Defendant Nebojsa Stajkovic, on the other hand, was placed under house arrest.

The representatives of the prosecution in the "Treasury" case, after the verdict was announced today, asked the defendants Saso Mijalkov and Nebojsa Stajkovic to be remanded in custody until the verdict becomes final.

- Having in mind the sentence of eight years and that Sasho Mijalkov is an exceptionally powerful man, as well as the invalid verdict in the case "Fortress-Target", we propose to determine the measure of detention for this case. The reasons are that there is a possibility of escape, said the prosecutor Trajche Pelivanov, who also proposed the detention measure for the case "Fortress-Target" to be lifted.

The defense of the defendants, upon the proposal of the public prosecutors, stated that they are convinced that this case in the Court of Appeals will receive a verdict of acquittal. Lawyer Lupcho Svrgovski pointed out that there is no danger of escape and that such a request is unfounded.

Former director of UBK Sasho Mijalkov, first accused in the case "Trezor" for abuse of official position and authority today was sentenced to a single sentence of eight years.

The former head of the Fifth Directorate of the Ministry of Interior, Goran Grujevski, who is inaccessible to the law enforcement authorities, was sentenced to 15 years in prison. Former Assistant Minister of the Interior Nebojsa Stajkovic was sentenced by the court to five years in prison.

Mijalkov's former chief of staff, Toni Jakimovski, who is charged with aiding and abetting, has been sentenced to a single five-year prison sentence.

An appeal against the judgment is allowed within 15 days to the higher Court of Appeals.

The case refers to misuse of funds from the state budget for procurement of electronic communications equipment for the needs of the Fifth Directorate at UBK and training for its use by a company from Great Britain.

The verdicts in the "Treasury" case fell: Mijalkov received an eight-year prison sentence
