Ramkovski's trial will not be repeated

The Court of Appeal in Skopje rejected the request Velija Ramkovski, former owner of TV "A1For repeating the process, in which he and his close relatives and associates were sentenced to prison. For the case known to the public as "Spider Web" Ramkovski and his defense counsel had filed a claim with the court based on "bombs"Of the opposition, and referred to the shutdown of television and the arrests.

Ramkovski and his lawyer considered that the materials from "bombs"Are sufficient evidence to convince her"Skopje AppealTo allow the case to be repeated, but they failed.

In "bombs“On SDSM, according to the judges of the higher instance, there were no new facts that could be invoked to allow the case to be repeated.

According to the court, the Ramkovski all his rights were respected. He received a fair trial within a reasonable time, a European Court for human rights found that on Ramkovski his rights were violated only in relation to the duration of the detention measure, but his rights were not violated during the criminal proceedings.

Previously, when asked by a journalist what the main arguments were in the request for a retrial, Ramkovski said:

- Unprocessed material evidence at the trial, original accounting documents, seized and found in court. Our lawyer entered the basements of the court with permission, found original documents and that, in addition to the "bombs", is the basis of our request to repeat the process. That process had no documents - said Ramkovski when submitting the request for repetition of the case.

As is well known, European Court for human rights in Strasbourg ruled that the state needs the owner of A1 Television Velija Ramkovski and his daughter Emel to pay them 780 euros each due to unjustified extension of the detention imposed on them in the case "Spider Web". ECtHR found that there was a violation of an article of the European Convention on Human Rights, which refers to the right to liberty and security, ie that the Macedonian court made a decision to extend the detention without sufficient arguments on any legal grounds.

The owner of TV "A1" Velija Ramkovski was detained for one year and two months. In the "Spider Web" trial, 23 managers and founders of companies were accused of tax evasion, money laundering and criminal association. A total of 109 years behind bars were handed down to 19 people sentenced to prison terms. Velija Ramkovski - 13, six brothers each Amdi and daughter Emel, son Heady, who is still on the run, and the director Darko Perushevski was sentenced to five and a half years. One suspect was given a suspended sentence, and three were released.

Due to health problems, at the end of 2017 Ramkovski was released for treatment. The family Ramkovski never backed down from the claim that "Spider Web"Is a politically mounted case to silence the media that was a vocal critic of the then Prime Minister's government Nikola Gruevski.
