The study "Cultural action of the City of Skopje and the Municipality of Centar" will be presented in the "Centar-Jadro" KSP

The association of the independent cultural scene "Jadro" on February 3 (Friday), starting at 10.30:XNUMX a.m., in the Center-Jadro Center, will promote the publication "Cultural Action of the City of Skopje and the Municipality of Centar" authored by the journalist and editor Zvezdan Georgievski .

The author, Svezdan Georgievski, and the editor of the publication, Nikola Gelevski, will lead the conversation about the cultural offer and the opportunities for cultural action made possible by the City of Skopje and the Municipality.

The publication analyzes the cultural policies of the City of Skopje and the Municipality of Centar, taking them as typical examples of the two different, but most often applied, principles of financing non-institutional culture from public, i.e. budget money in our country for 2021 and 2022.

- Georgievski's analysis shows that local self-government units in this type of centralized system of cultural policies are not able to create a more serious cultural offer. Moreover, their very understanding of culture, which is seen as an "upgrade" or a "necessary evil", as something that can be serviced only if funds remain from the "higher priority" activities, is outdated. Georgievski concludes: "The issue is systemic and must be solved systematically, primarily through the fiscal decentralization of the republic's budget for culture, related to the equal redistribution of funds for culture among local self-government units. The second condition for improving the situation is a more serious involvement of the civil sector in deciding on cultural policies and making strategies for cultural development. Furthermore, the continuity of cultural policies is necessary, which in our country change depending on the political set that is in power" - points out the editor Nikola Gelevski in a text published in the publication.

Zvezdan Georgieviski worked as a journalist and editor in several newsrooms: "Nova Makedonija", "Puls", "Utrinski Vesnik", "Globus".
