The Struga tournament will have a new champion, Vardar defeated by Celje
The Struga handball tournament, which is being held for the 50th anniversary this summer, will get a new champion after tonight Vardar was defeated by Celje Pivovarna Laško with 28:36.
The defeat of the "red and blacks" meant winning the second place in the group, while the Slovenian team qualified for the finals with the victory.
Vardarci started the match better, led by the excellent goalkeeper Martin Tomovski, after 15 minutes of play they had a lead of 14:10. But then the handball players of Celje Pivovarna Laško, led by former Vardar player Alen Toskić, "woke up" and managed to take a break and leave with 17:17.
In the second half, the handball players of the Slovenian team made the decisive advantage at the finish when they took the lead with 25:31, which solved the dilemmas about the winner and the traveler in the final.
