Struga ready for the jubilee 50th handball tournament

The city of Struga is ready for the jubilee 50th edition of the traditional Struga handball tournament, which will take place from August 16 to 20 on the field near the women's beach.

Usually eight teams will participate in the Struga handball tournament, which will be divided into two groups. Five teams are from Macedonia, Vardar, E. Pelister, Butel, Struga and Alkaloid and three from abroad: Celje, Tatran Preshov and AEK Athens.

– This tournament is big for us, we all come from here and that's where we took our first steps. It is a great pleasure and honor to have this tournament because for us it is of great importance, it is the oldest tournament in Europe and I hope that we will give an incentive to make this event from next year traditionally under the auspices of the state. I hope we will see good handball, we as AMS and patrons of this event will do everything for such a thing. This is a plus for our country Macedonia, which stands out as a nation that cherishes and loves handball, to watch great matches. Here, handball still has the epithet sport number one, I wish everyone would enjoy handball - says Naumche Mojsovski, director of the Agency for Youth and Sports.

Struga - Eurofarm Pelister, Vardar - Alkaloid and Butel - Celje will play on the first day of the tournament.

- Rarely anyone can boast of a tradition that lasts 50 years. We, the Struga handball workers and fans of handball, managed to maintain it in the most difficult years. Now I am celebrating 50 years and I think that this will be one of the strongest tournaments - said the president of RK Struga, Kire Jovanoski.

Last year, Vardar triumphed at the Struga tournament, defeating E. Pelister.
